Creatve Non-fiction Writing

ENGL 330

Advanced Expository Writing

This course acquaints students with creative ways to express truth in sermons, magazine articles, books, classes, small groups, programs over radio, TV, or the Internet--that do not distort it--in order to improve their critical reading, thinking, and writing skills. Students learn to use rhetorical strategies and techniques that make truth more attractive to children, teens, and hard cases. Some computer experience is helpful, but not necessary. BSI waives the required course 301 for this special offering.

You must turn in all classwork, plus take a final exam.

Materials:

  • Creative Non-Fiction Helps and Exercises (Dr. Lee Gugliotto, Equip-Enable-Empower Press: Condon, 2006)
  • The Little Handbook to Perfecting the Art of Christian Writing (Leonard G. Goss & Don M. Aycock, Broadman and Holman Publishers: Nashville, 2006)
  • Writing Creative Non-Fiction (Theodore A. Rees Cheney, Ten Speed Press: Berkeley, 2001)
